Behavioral Exit Conditions & Sequence Re-Entry
Configure smart sequence stop triggers to unenroll leads when they convert, book a call, or reply, preventing awkward overlapping follow-ups.
Behavioral Exit Conditions & Sequence Re-Entry
Automated nurture sequences should automatically halt when a customer takes the intended action (such as booking an appointment, purchasing a product, or sending a direct WhatsApp reply).
1. What are Exit Conditions?
An Exit Condition is a rule evaluated before each step in an automated sequence. If the condition is met, the contact is immediately unenrolled from the sequence and marked as `GOAL_REACHED`.
Common Exit Triggers
- Tag Applied: e.g., Unenroll if contact receives the
customerorpaid-usertag. - Link Clicked: Stop follow-ups once the lead clicks the *"Book Strategy Call"* link.
- Form Submitted: Remove from cold sequence if they submit the onboarding questionnaire.
- Inbound WhatsApp Message: Automatically stop promotional messages if the lead messages your WhatsApp inbox directly.
2. Configuring Sequence Exit Rules
- Navigate to Automations > Sequences (
/app/automations/sequencesor/app/emails/sequences). - Select your sequence and click Settings & Exit Conditions.
- Under "Unenroll Contact If", define your rules:
- Match:
ANY condition (OR)orALL conditions (AND). - Condition: Select
Has Tag,Joined List, orReplied via WhatsApp. - Choose post-exit action:
- Optional: Apply tag
converted-from-drip. - Optional: Transfer contact into a customer onboarding sequence.
3. Re-Entry Policies
Control whether a contact can re-enter a sequence in the future:
- Never (Default): Contacts can only travel through this sequence once in their lifetime.
- Allow Re-Entry: Useful for transactional notifications, abandoned carts, or recurring seasonal campaigns. Set an optional cooldown period (e.g., minimum 30 days between enrollments).
